DescriptionChina glaze earthenware (pearlware) shell-edge plate with the shell-edge highlighted in cobalt blue and the center of the plate decorated with a black transfer-printed design consisting of an image of a fox running with a goose in its mouth. This image was taken from the title page of the publication "Animals of Various Species Accurately Drawn" by Francis Barlow; engraved and published ca. 1660 with subsequent printings.
