DescriptionPlane of large rectangular shape with an integral fence and top discharge. The tote is offset to the right and sits in a mortise behind the throat secured with a small peg which runs through the side of the body. The top and side edges have flat chamfers that terminate with lamb’s tongue cuts. Fitted with a sharpened iron and wedge with mitered corners and a flat top. Forestock is pierced to receive a traverse stick or rope to help pull the plane forward while it is being pushed. The iron bolt was used for a working life repair to hold a crack in the forestock together.Mark(s)I*NICHOLSON / IN / CUMBERLAND On toe: raised "NB" within a rectangular cartouche, struck three times
