DescriptionBoxlock pistol with spring loaded bayonet secured by a moving triggerguard. Damascus patterned octagonal barrel and bag shaped buttstock decorated with diapered checquering with silver pique inlay at the intersection of the larger lines. Frame and triggerguard bow engraved with floral decorations and a sliding safetly below the cock.Label TextWhile the inexpensive pistols made in Belgium during the 18th and 19th centuries had the reputation of being the "Saturday Night Specials" of their day, better handguns were also made there. This example includes a number of finer features, like a Damascus patterned barrel, a finely checquered grip with silver pique inlay and a nasty little surprise.
