DescriptionLead-glazed, cream-colored earthenware strainer of a cylindrical shape, the flat bottom rising to a slightly flared and everted rim; the body is supported on three masked lion-paw feet. The body is pierced on the sides with three sets of six holes in triangular patterns and on the base with seven holes arranged in a circular pattern. The entire object is decorated with splotched tortoiseshell colors of black, green, and yellow.ProvenancePrior to 1996, in the collection of Mrs. Marie E. Creem (New York, NY). Acquired by the donor in 1996 (Williamsburg, VA). Given by the donor to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in 2016 (Williamsburg, VA) and with CWF to the present.
