DescriptionDessert spoon with upturned fiddle-tipt handle, pointed shoulders, and oval pointed bowl with no backdrop.Label TextJames Meredith was born in Baltimore and apprenticed under Charles L. Boehme of that city from 1805 to 1812. Meredith then moved to Winchester, Virginia, where he worked as a silversmith both independently and in various partnerships until 1860. Meredith advertised that he made table, dessert, and tea spoons as well as soup and cream ladles, salt spoons, and tea tongs.Inscription(s)Engraved lengthwise on front of handle in sprigged script “S Green.”Mark(s)Marked lengthwise on back in relief in rectangle “J•MEREDITH•”
