DescriptionFull-face three quarter length portrait of seated boy. Brown haired, brown eyed boy seated in red side chair. Holds red book with dark spine and yellow striping in right hand. Wearing a black jacket with yellow buttons, and Eton collar, and black tie, and tan trousers. Seated against dark grey background.Label TextWilliam Kennedy's simple, direct style has often been confused with those of William Matthow Prior (1806-1873) and Sturtevant J. Hamblin (active 1837-1856), although no contact between him and the latter two portraitists has been documented. Kennedy and his family lived in various New England towns until the winter of 1849-50, when they moved to Baltimore, Maryland.Mark(s)None foundProvenanceKatrina Kipper, Accord, Mass. Given to C.
