DescriptionPlate: Plain rim of moderate width with single bead on underside at edge; short concave hammered booge to brad slightly-domed well. Face of well engraved; "Success to the /E.C./KING OF PRUSSIA/1757/and His Forces" in block letters. "T/IS" stamped on underside of well.Label TextThis plate reflects England's alliance with Prussia during the Seven Years' War (1756-1763). Plates bidding success to the Prussian cause are much more common in various English ceramics.Inscription(s)"Success to the/E.C./KING of PRUSSIA/1757/and His Forces" engraved on face of well. Owners' initials "T/IS" stamped on underside of well.Mark(s)No apparent touch mark. Secondary marks (1) label "SUPER FINE/HARD METAL" within a double rectangle with zig-zag outlining and pendant scrollwork and central mask, and (3) quality mark "x" with crown above on underside of each well.
