DescriptionSaucer, with shaped, brown-lined edge divided into ten sections, large and small flowers and an insect hiding glaze imperfections around rim, and in the center, surrounded by a red double lined circle, is painted in overglaze enamels in the fable style a scene of two strange animals with horns, beards, long necks and legs. One standing, yellow with brown spots, the other lying, white with red spots. The ground is yellow; trees brown, red, and green; water and mountain blue, and red rocks in the foreground.

Raised anchor period.Label TextPainted in the fable style but depicting fantastic animals encircled by a double red band, the scene on this saucer does not represent a fable. The animals resemble the strange creatures painted on the Meissen service made for the Münchhausen family and on other wares attributed to A.
