DescriptionSauceboat: the body of single-lipped silver-shape with a scalloped rim; supported on three molded lion mask feet (one foot under the spout and two at the handle end) which were cut off at the knees before glazing and firing; opposite the pouring lip is a single molded barbed c-scroll handle. Painted in blue with chinoiserie style decoration; the exterior of either side with rocks and trailing flowers; the interior rim painted with a band of scrolling clouds and the well painted with rockwork and flowers; the handle decorated with flower sprigs.ProvenanceFormerly in the collection of Anton Gabszewicz (London, England). In 2025, with Bonhams (London, England) from whom it was purchased by Robert Hunter (Yorktown, VA). In 2026, Robert Hunter sold it to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Williamsburg, VA) where it remains to the present.
